She’s done it again! The latest of Claire Delacroix’s Fallen Angel books is on the streets! If you didn’t read Fallen yet, you’ll want to pick that up too!
Click on the book pic to head over to B&N.com for your copy, or take a nice fall drive to your local bookstore for a cup of warm beverage and treat yourself to a fascinating story!
The Eyes of the Republic are Everywhere.
The victim of what she believes is a malicious kidnapping, seer Delilah Desjardins quickly realizes that her abductor is on a mission to save her from assassins. Rafe, a fallen angel, must ensure that Delilah, blessed with the gift of foresight, reaches her true calling as an oracle for the Republic–and if his divine calling results in a more earthly relationship between the two of them, well, he doesn’t mind that at all.
Drawn to Rafe, but fearing the loss of her gifts should she surrender to his charms, Delilah knows she has to leave him. But fleeing his guardianship sets the assassins on her trail again. As Rafe races to save Delilah, he knows he isn’t just saving her for the good of the Republic, for the angels, or for the future–he’s saving her for himself.

I admit it – I grew up reading category romance novels. Although I started my romance reading habit with Barbara Cartlands, it wasn’t long before I was reading Harlequins by the bagful.
These books were still well before my time, but I love the pulpy covers! Harlequin is celebrating it’s 60 year anniversary by republishing six vintage 1950’s books complete with their original covers! I’m going to hunt these up just to see how much writing has changed!
And apparently I’m late to this party, as Harlequin’s Vintage Collection website has six wonderfully retro books up for grabs now. Get them at your favorite bookseller before they fade back to the 50’s. Or click on the book cover to go to the eHarlequin product page.
(Don’t you just love the title “Pardon My Body”? )

For Book Monday, I’m recommending Can’t Stand the Heat by Louisa Edwards. The first in her “Recipe for Love” series, this is a well-written debut novel full of culinary details that will satisfy your appetite (pun intended) for what really goes on in the kitchens of your local restaurants! I especially enjoyed the secondary characters (maybe even more than the primary ones) and the scrumptious recipes and food trivia that gave the book surprising depth and satisfying authenticity. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Edwards in the future.
From the Barnes & Noble page (click on the book cover to go there now):
SHE’S HUNGRY FOR EXPERIENCE.
For sharp-tongued food critic Miranda Wake, the chance to spend a month in Adam Temple’s [LE1] kitchen to write an exposé is a journalistic dream come true. Surely Miranda can find a way to cut the hotshot chef down to size once she learns what really goes on at his trendy Manhattan restaurant. But she never expected Adam to find out her most embarrassing secret: she has no idea how to cook.
AND HE KNOWS JUST HOW TO SATISFY HER CRAVINGS…
Adam’s not about to have his reputation burned by a critic who doesn’t even know the difference between poaching and paring. He’ll just have to give the tempting redhead a few private lessons of his own—teaching her what it means to cook with passion…and doing more with his hands than simply preparing sumptuous food.
