My home office bears an embarrasing resemblence to the graphic in this blog – piles of books, piles of knitting/crocheting in progress, and everything else that has no home in the house.
I haven’t been comfortable working in my office, so I decided it needed cleaning and straightening up. I threw out two big garbage bags. Among the trash, I found:
- a box of Rocher chocolates probably meant as a Christmas gift last year (They’re still very good.)
- a huge box of 3 1/2″ floppy disks
- sixteen tubes of chapstick and lipstick
- several women’s hygiene items
- twenty-three purses or briefcases I’ve tried in the quest for the “perfect” one
- a performance appraisal from 1999 at my last military assignment (I was sh**-hot, by the way)
- shot records and vet records for the three dogs I moved to Panama in 1991, none of them are still alive
- a bottle of Tylenol
- two bottles of hand lotion
- half a box of pint canning jars, bands, and lids
- three hundred size #10 envelopes
- embroidery floss for my sister’s wedding sampler (she’s been married 10 years and it’s still not done)
- nine little disks of dental floss that the dentist gives out
Sigh. I’m’ not even done yet. What’s the best thing you’ve found doing deep cleaning? (I vote for the chocolates tonight.)
