Hope…

I’m a fan of Despair.com’s Demotivator posters.  This week they announced a few new ones.  Here’s one for you to chuckle over:

It’s No Secret…

cleaning.jpgMost people know that I’m not a fan of housecleaning.  The Bob is actually much better at it than I am.  But living with three dogs means we tend to overlook a few things, like muddy pawprints and dog hair piled up in the corner of the hallway. (I don’t even clean that much for my SILs and MIL.)

When you know someone is coming over to stay at your house for a week, suddenly dirt and clutter are everywhere. The kind of dirt you don’t want anyone else to see.   Dust an inch thick on the window sills.  Magazines two years old are piled under the coffee table.  The pantry needs reorganizing.  The floors need washing; the carpets need cleaning.  That sort of thing.

Sigh.  I need a maid.

Day 1 of new job: I’ve got so much to learn.  This new system is going to kick my butt if I don’t absorb everything I can about it.  Today I sat in on sessions where a user looked over some of the software in development.  I’m overconfident enough to say that I wasn’t completely lost, even if ocean shipping is completely different than air movement.  I had a headache by noon, but that could have been caffiene withdrawal.  We got the mini-fridge moved into the office, so that shouldn’t be a problem anymore.  Although sharing an office with two people is…different.

I have this week to nag judges into completing the MORWA Gateway to the Best first round judging.  So I’m reviewing comments, checking the ability to people to add up scores, and trying to float with my head above water on this one.  Wish me luck.

Cheap chardonnay and popcorn (with a dessert of Little Debbie Swiss Rolls) makes an awesome dinner.

We’re leaving for Hawaii in two weeks.  We’re staying off-resort at “Bwana Bob’s”.  Besides that fact that the company includes the DH’s name, I love the whole concept of “Bwana Bob’s”.  If you don’t know, ”Bwana” is a form of respect meaning “master” or “boss” in Africa.  Below is a pic of the Banana Cottage, where The Bob and I will be staying.  Bwana Bob’s is a small coffee plantation with three cottages for rent.  We’re staying off the beaten track and away from the big resorts on the Big Island.

Before then, I have to deep clean the bathroom for the dog sitter, possibly clean up the sewing area in the basement, and see if I have enough clothes to pack.  We’re splurging and going first class – mostly because The Bob knows I’ll be miserable in coach section.

What are you up to today?
