The MidWest is suffering from a heatwave this week. Temps have been hovering at or near triple digit numbers. The only good thing about the weather is the radio station promotion for free ice cream.
Y98 says that when the temp reaches 98 degrees, a ice cream chain called Maggie Moo’s will give away a free child’s scoop (one scoop, but most of the time they’re pretty generous) of ice cream for the next 98 minutes.
We scored on Monday (dark chocolate, yum!). Tuesday I missed it ’cause I was in the dentist’s chair. Yesterday the heat wave hit 98 at 3:07 and we were in our ice cream parlor by 3:22pm. It’s only a mile from the office! I chose the cheesecake flavor.
It’s 96 right now, according to my little weather computer, at 1:41pm. I’m thinking we may peak out in about an hour, and I’m trying to decide what flavor I feel like today. Buttered popcorn, maybe? Or chocolate better batter? There’s more flavors on the website than I’ve seen in the store.
As my friend Carrie says, free ice cream always tastes better!
