Saturday Musings…

I’m supposed to be productive this weekend. After all, it’s a gorgeous spring day with the birds building their nests in the trees or otherwise having some argument outside my office window. The Bob and I finished our yard work yesterday, so we wouldn’t be among the sterotypical suburban types busily mowing, blowing and weed-eating today.

flowers.jpgI was to clean the closet today and spend hours happily buried in my story. Instead? I got sucked into a book that I can hardly put down. It’s not new – originally published in 1993, but Laura Kinsale’s Flowers in the Storm is every bit as good as people have said it would be. I was hooked by the end of the first page and I keep turning the pages to see what will happen next.

Sorry, have to go read now!

Mowing Grass or Doing Laundry

The Bob was reading some article to me in the paper on Sunday, not that I was paying a lot of attention, about how couples should share chores equally.  I’m equal-opportunity minded, so I waited with not-so-bated breath to hear what he’d say next.

“I have an idea,” he said.  “Why don’t you mow the lawn?”

“OK,” I agreed.  “And I think you should do the laundry.”

Quiet reigned complete.

I can mow the lawn and have done it many times.  He’s never happy with my efforts because of various imperfections like not mowing in ruler-straight lines or the figure eights I weave around the trees.  After a few such complaints, I more than happily resigned from mowing the grass in 95 degree temperatures.

Tonight I mowmowinggrass.jpged the front and side yards becaues doing it today meant the lawn wouldn’t grow six more inches between now and Thursday, especially since we’ll likely see rain in the next couple days.  (The Bob refuses to cut grass if it’s the least little bit wet, swearing we’ll ruin the lawn forever if he does.  Like, I doubt it but it’s his excuse, so I go with it.)

And I even mowed in nice diagonal lines, although I think I was supposed to go crosswise this time.

Can you believe someone wrote a book about how to mow your lawn in pretty patterns?

But seriously.  It took me about an hour to mow and blow off the sidewalks and back deck.  Granted, I didn’t weed-eat (I don’t do windows either).  But it took an hour.

Laundry takes about 45 minutes for a load to wash, and maybe the same or a little longer to dry.  Plus folding time and then putting it away.  On the other hand, my laundry stuff is in the basement, so I’m never standing around in 95 degree temps folding towels.

Which would you rather do?  Mow grass or do laundry?

I’m back…and I have new shoes

Did you miss me?

I missed you guys!

So here we are with a fresh new look for both the website and my feet.  The website got a makeover because I was in the mood for some spring paint and wallpaper.  The feet got their makeover courtesy of Buy One, Get One 1/2 off sales!

I think every girl should have a kick-ass pair of red shoes at least once in her lifetime.  There’s something about red shoes that say you’re sexy and daring.  I’ve always wanted a pair, but never quite found the pair that said “buy me.” Until today.  :)

This pretty little pair of peep toe patent red leather, 3 inch heeled, trimmed in back ribbon shoes caught my eye today when I was supposed to be shopping for sensible black work heels.  I’m not quite sure where I’m going to wear these yet, but there is a party on July 12 at RWA Nationals I’m thinking about showing them off at.

cn_131430_med.jpgHere’s the style in the bone color. Imagine it as bright patent leather red!

Have you ever had a pair of kick-ass red high heels?
